Lightroom began with a simple thought in 2006: a need for quality books for children.
Seven years later, in 2013, we opened our doors with 800 carefully chosen titles. The idea was straightforward: create a welcoming space filled with books we believed children would love to read.
Today, more than a decade later, our little house at the end of a tree-lined street has grown to house over 5000 titles, mostly for children.
A Dream Built On Books

From beloved classics to some lesser-known ones, with a strong presence of Indian as well as International publishers, the books in our store are selected carefully, after going through endlessly long stock lists, recommendations, and reviews. Over the years, our collection has grown organically, guided by conversations with readers, authors, and other book lovers.
Some of our favourite moments happen spontaneously - when children discover new stories, when readers share their thoughts about books, or when someone finds exactly what they've been looking for. We've seen countless such moments at Lightroom over the years.
Handpicked Selection

Regular reading sessions, book clubs, storytelling sessions, workshops, librarian get togethers and author meets have become part of our routine. We run a continuous cycle of events through the year; and longer workshops for children during the summer and winter holidays.
About a year after we opened our doors, schools started trickling in to ask for our help in setting up their libraries. This slowly became a major part of our work and we've had the joy and privilege of helping over 500 schools and community spaces across India build their libraries, introducing more children to the world of reading.
Over the years, the space has grown naturally as a community space. Whether someone spends an afternoon browsing or just drops in for a quick look or chat, whether someone is searching for picture books or young adult novels, there's room for every kind of reader here.
